This is the key to living an easy, simple, and carefree life when dealing with crazy curly hair. Since we have addressed certain wash days for your curls, the next question that is asked is "I am on day five of not washing my curls, how do I maintain them? They are frizzy and out of control!" This process is not complex by any means, just a few simple steps to refreshing your curls, allowing you to wake up and go, without the hour process of fixing, washing, and drying your hair. That is what this week's blog is all about, so get your notebook and a pen ready and write down these tips!
Tip 1: Sleeping
Sleeping is one of the most important ways to keep your curls intact which many people can overlook. If you are still using a cotton pillowcase, throw that thing away! Get yourself a silk or satin pillowcase and use the pineapple method when going to sleep. Positioning your hair at the very top of your head with a scrunchie, will allow your curls to fall elegantly in the morning without washing them again. The silk in the pillowcase will reduce the frizz while sleeping.
Tip 2: Wet Refreshing
This method is perfect for a wake up and go type of morning, or if your curls need extra redefining throughout the day. Grab your spray bottle of water and first do an overall spray on your entire head. Once that is done, then you can target certain areas that need more attention such as the frizzy parts or a few strands that have lost their curly bounce. Use water and a gel product to shape your ringlets back into place. You can just use water in your spray bottle, you can add conditioner to it, or use a product below in the picture.
Tip 3: Dry Refreshening
This method works best on my cuties with think curly hair. Think and course curls tend to hold their shape more easily than those with loose curls. In this case, no water is needed for refreshing, just a gel or foam product that you have on hand. Use half the amount of product you would use on a wash day and section your hair into pieces. Then rub the product in the palm of your hair and get to scrunching!
