The struggle can be real when trying to find inexpensive products for curly hair. One bottle of conditioner can be up to $40, and money doesn't grow on trees as we all know. However, there are quite simple ways to create your own hair masks, leave in conditioner, gel products, and so much more from ingredients you may have in your kitchen right at home! For this week's blog, I am going to teach you how to become your own chemist and stylist for DIY products.
Quick Leave-In Conditioner
6 ounces of distilled water in a spray bottle
2 teaspoons of extra virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons of your favorite conditioner
Mix all together and this will moisturize your curls
Avocado Deep Conditioner
1 avocado
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Honey
Blend together until it is a thick consistency, comb through your hair to cover all ends, put on a plastic cap to cover your hair, leave in for an hour, and then rinse.
Shampoo Recipe
1 tablespoon baking soda
8 ounces of hot water
Mix these ingredients together with hot water, put them into a spray bottle, and rub into your scalp, and then rinse
Shea Butter Leave-In
Melt 2 tablespoons coconut oil
Melt 2 tablespoons raw shea butter
Melt 6-9 drops of honey
Melt this all together in the microwave for 2-5 minutes
Stir
Put mixture into freezer for 10 minutes
Apply
Curl Detangler
Fill a spray bottle with water and your favorite conditioner
Shake
This will refresh your wet or dry curls at any point in the day instead of buying a separate leave in conditioner
Yogurt Hair Mask
1 cup of plain yogurt
2 tablespoons of honey
4 tablespoons of olive oil
Any vitamin E gel capsules you may have (optional)
Mix all together, apply a plastic cap over your curls, let it sit for about 25 minutes, and then rinse
