Have you ever questioned what type of hair you have? What category it falls under? Are you taking care of your hair the right way? What kind of attention do your specific curls require? Well, this week I have all of those answers that might keep you awake at night. There certain categories that your curls fall into that can require different products, different wash days, and different routines. Taking care of curly care comes down to a science, so let's dive right in. Let's distinguish what type of curls you have.
Wavy Hair
Wavy hair falls into the category of type 2, which has the loosest curls. This can most likely be recognized as the in between of straight hair and curly hair, as the root area does not hold a bouncy volume like others. As there are pros and cons to each hair type, wavy hair tends to hold the most moisture but can also be a curse as it is more prone to build up. The build up is caused by the moisture building up in the scalp, this can be treated by using a clarifying shampoo.
Curly Hair
Curly hair falls into the category of type 3, which has the tight curls which has been named the corkscrew curls. These curls can break down into type 4 curls as well which is known as coily curls. This hair type tends to be more dry as the natural oils and moisture cannot always break through the tight curls at the root. To resolve this issue, you can use a cream or gel on your hair and pay more attention to the scalp when applying the product. Gels and cream also weigh the frizz down if you are experiencing that issue. Now, you do not want the gels to stick to your roots turning the coils into hard and stiff strands. To avoid this you can scrunch your hair after it is dry with a t-shirt to break up the crunchy pieces and use your favorite spray bottle.
