Wet Plopping Style

There are several ways that curly hair styles can be done ranging from nightly routines to morning routines. The curly hair community will find any way to save time from a long routine process. However, a lot of the time curly hair has trouble keeping its hold until the next wash day approaches so the process becomes repetitive and prolongs it. This week's blog will introduce the wet plopping style done at night, which can keep your curls intact for days.

Night Routine Before Plopping

Step 1: Wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner.

Step 2: Lightly dry your hair with a microfiber towel or t-shirt in a scrunching motion.

Step 3: Make sure your hair is damp (not soaking wet but not dry).

Step 4: Grab your favorite curl cream and begin raking product through hair from roots to ends. This step works best if your hair is sectioned into a few parts depending on the thickness of your hair.

Step 5: Grab a gel or mousse, this will keep your curls defined and will hold your hair in place. Scrunch and rake product through hair.

A popular question that is asked by the curly hair community is "How do I know if I am using enough product in my hair? The picture below is exactly what you want to see after you have finished styling your hair. Seeing the product squeeze out of your curls indicates that the strands are moisturized and that the product will hold your hair in place.

Plopping Time

The Wet Plopping Style allows your curls to relax overnight without the strands getting frizzy and resulting in a tangled mess. This is a similar tactic to the Pineapple method but this method ensures that your curls do indeed stay in place.

Step 1: Lay a t-shirt flat on a surface, flip your hair over, and position your hair at the bottom of the shirt.

Step 2: Grab each end of the bottom of the shirt and pull together to cover the back of your head.

Step 3: Bring the sleeves together, and pull the top of the shirt over your hair. By doing this you're trying bundle all of your hair into a pile and wrapping the shirt around and over it. Tie the ends together or you can clip the ends of the shirt behind your head or on the top.
